Cultural entrepreneur Ammo Talwar started Punch in 1996 as a specialist record shop and a hub for local DJs. His leadership and vision built the company into an award-winning music development agency; working internationally and in partnership with leading private and public sector investors. He received an MBE in 2008 for contributions to music and young people.
Simon backs Punch’s bold development aspirations with twenty years of knowledge and experience of the cultural sector. Instrumental in Punch’s transformation into an modern and award-winning social enterprise, Simon has been a senior manager at Birmingham Museums, a sought-after arts project manager and a successful local government consultant. He now leads on fundraising and long-term planning, supporting Punch’s future creative roadmap.
Ray Paul is head of creative projects at Punch, and has been active within the field of content creation for over 25 years. At Punch Ray leads on creative programming and delivery, bringing an unequalled understanding of Black music and audiences to mastermind Punch’s new, UK-wide music and touring programme. He also leads on the programming and delivery of Punch’s flagship festival, BASS, now in it’s 10th year.
With 22 years working in the NHS, in 4 different organisations and 20 years at a Senior Management level, Margaret has joined Punch Records as maternity cover for the Head of Office and Finance role and will use her experiences to oversee the day to day running of the company.
Responsible for the key functions of the organisation including; Finance, HR and Operations, Gurpreet plays a dual role in managing Financial accounts, planning and forecasting and oversees the day to day operations of Punch Records implementing and maintaining systems; developing insight that will lead to better business decisions.
Anthony has a developed understanding of working on Digital campaigns and managing multi-channel communications from working on Events, Festivals, PR and Social Media campaigns for a variety of organisations across Music and the Arts. Most recently working with the Royal Shakespeare Company to develop their website content for 16-25 year olds and improving the offer to this audience group.
Committed, practical and passionate about the potential of music to change lives; Molly supports Head of Creative Projects in booking, programming and promoting the company’s live music calender. Her role comprises of being the driver for the successful production of Punch Record’s tours and events such as; undertaking detailed logistical administration and coordinating key aspects of tours and events such as; planning, preparation, budgeting, ticketing, contracts, delivery and evaluation.
Sophia is a former member of performing arts groups in the UK and in Spain, and a Music Specialist at a summer camp in the USA. In these environments, she connected with and encouraged young people to develop their musical abilities. She enjoys doing this at Punch as The Engagement Coordinator.
Her role requires her to reach out to participants, artists and organisations, build relationships with them and deliver engagement programmes that she has created with the Head of Development.
She is also responsible for researching practices within the community and creative arts in order that she can develop new engagement opportunities and contribute to the development of events/projects with the team.
