In early
'83, Roc1 was carried away by hip-hop's clutches and he's
never looked back since.
Roc embraced all aspects of hip hop culture, from being
an breakdancer to beatboxer. He came to fame in 1991 deejaying
for NATION RECORD's signing URBAN SOUTH, since then becoming
one of the regions best known hip-hop DJ's and furthermore,
promoter and producer. Roc has supported & played
alongside some of the biggest names in hip-hop including
Grandmaster Flash, De La Soul and Pharcyde as a partner
in Substance, Birmingham's most successful hip-hop club
night in Birmingham. Currently Roc has other residencies
around the Midlands and UK including club event Love the
Life, Tru school antics and on radio with Neo Nation on
New Style FM co-presenting and surfacing ground breaking
new music. He was also regional DMC finalist 1999 in the
manchester heats which has made him a popular character
within DJ circles.
With a firm belief that; "Hip Hop needs to be maintained
and nurished", Roc is constantly searching for new ways
to be creative within the hip-hop scene whilst remaining
true to its original roots. Tru School Antics was inspired
by this ethos and Roc 1's vision. |
