Decifer started his creative journey as an MC in the underground grime scene. Through a frustration with the lack of good beats to rap over be began to produce his own tracks. His reputation and skill set grew and today he stands as one of the most in demand producers of grime in the West Midlands. He has created beats for the cream of Birmingham’s grime set as well as composing the soundtracks for the theatre and film.
Also a talented MC, Decifer makes up one part of ‘partnas in krime’ his original grime crew and the group have just released their first mixtape.
In 2006 he became involved in The Decypher collective pioneering the concept of ‘Grime Theatre’ and to date has performed at the BASS music festival (06/07), Arts Fest and The Black Soil Festival (Amsterdam).
The Collective’s latest production is a full length theatre piece called ‘81632’. This is set to tour nationally and internationally in the autumn of 08.
Currently Decifer is busy rehearsing for his first professional UK theatre tour. Conceived and directed by the infamous Don Letts, Decifer will join Skinny Man and Malika Booker in a production entitled‘Speaker Corners’.
