Phil is an experienced Producer/Director at ITV Central who is able to make good use of Central's commissioning clause (which promotes diversity in programme making) and his excellent contacts to make mainstream programmes. The company requires all regional programmes to consider issues of cultural diversity in terms of portrayal and staffing and Phil has made sure that this has been fully explored.
Phil's work is indicative of the changing culture at ITV Central. Over the years Phil has been involved in specialist cultural programming such as Eastern Mix and Asian Eye but since Central took the brave move to push diversity into the mainstream, Phil now uses his talents to fulfil this promise. His programmes also appeal to a younger audience so hopefully these viewers will grow up with the idea that diversity is 'the norm' for mainstream television programming.
Phil has been executive producer for First Cut - ITVs scheme for young film makers and series editor for Xposure - Central TV's series for unsigned bands. He now heads the Desi DNA team for the BBC
